Player Of The Year Snapshot: TVC-Ohio

Joey Burrow: By Kaleb Carter
To anyone paying attention to football in Southeastern Ohio, they have probably heard the name Joey Burrow. Coming in as a sophomore quarterback, Burrow has astounded football fans in The Plains with his dual threat abilities.

The 6-foot-3, 170 pound natural athlete, who also played a key role in the winter on the Bulldog basketball team has been able to do quite a bit with his arm and feet alike. Burrow has averaged 11.4 yards per touch (including incompletions) by the way of 385 yards on the ground and 1367 yards through the air on the season, leading Athens to a 4-1 record through Week 5.

Under his command, the Bulldogs have put up 2332 yards from scrimmage over the course of their first five games. Burrow’s 19 passing touchdowns outnumber any other quarterback in the TVC Ohio, and his 6 rushing touchdowns tie him with teammate Trae Williams for second most in the conference.

It is no wonder with the skill set that Burrow possesses, and the numbers that he has put up so far, that he is at the tip of the tongue when it comes to the discussion of best players in the area.
